the fellows program
In 1983, the Illinois Bar Foundation created The Fellows program. The Fellows are a special group of lawyers and non-attorney Foundation supporters who have committed, by direct payment or pledge over ten years, sums of money ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 to accomplish two goals:
Build the Foundation's endowment; and
Develop and fund its own projects in furtherance of the Foundation's mission.
Fellows pledge payments are retained in a special fund of the Foundation, and are used for making grants and financial aid gifts to attorneys who have fallen on hard times. Your contribution makes a direct impact on the lives of those in need around the state of Illinois.
Did You Know?
Fellows can now restrict their pledge for the appellate district of their choice, allowing their contributions to stay within their own community.
For the first time, non-attorney Foundation supporters may also join the Fellows program!
It's Easy to Become a Fellow
Fellows can sign up at any level and enroll in automatic annual, quarterly, or monthly payments. Once you sign up, IBF staff will send an invoice along with your welcome packet with more information about the program. Fellows receive special recognition at ISBA Annual & Midyear Meeting, on the IBF website, and in publications such as the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Illinois Lawyer Now, and the Illinois Bar Journal.
Already a Fellow?
Fellows may upgrade their pledge level at any time, and all previous Fellows payments are credited toward your upgraded pledge balance, making an upgrade less costly but more impactful.
